Only Half Awake — William James Mug

Context
That is the whole diagnosis, and it is a generous one. James is not saying you lack what it takes. He is saying the supply is laid in and something upstream is closed.
There is exactly one hour of the day when this is true in the plainest possible sense, and you are holding the standard remedy for it.

The Design
The sentence starts at full strength and gives up a little light with each line. Then the last two words arrive large and get cut straight across the middle — lit on top, unlit beneath.
Nothing is missing from those letters. The bottom half is all there and simply not switched on. Printed on both sides, so whichever way it is turned at seven in the morning, the cut is facing someone.
